ZSPA Public Service Excellence Awards are the most prestigious national recognition of excellence in public service. They rewards the creative achievements and contributions of public service institutions that lead to a more effective and responsive public administration in a country. Through an annual competition, the ZSPA Public Service Awards promotes the role, professionalism and visibility of public service. ZSPA would like to recognize world-class innovators who are changing the face of public service in Zambia. The ZSPA Public Service Awards distinguishes government organizations that have shown exceptional innovations that address the wide variety of issues facing society today.
Governments are facing challenges that are increasingly complex and often spread across ministerial mandates and jurisdictions. These issues affect citizens and stakeholders in both predictable and unintended ways. Although resources are increasingly limited, citizens still have expectations and assume that governments will work together to address them through new and creative approaches.
The Awards have been developed to recognize individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership by taking bold steps to improve Zambia, through advancements in public policy and management. Winners will be announced at the Annual gala Dinner award.
The overall purpose of the ZSPA - Public Service Awards is to recognize the institutional and individual contribution made by public servants and society at large to enhance the role, professionalism, image and visibility of the public service.
The objectives of the awards can be translated into the following more specific objectives:
Nomination Criteria
All applications shall be submitted to the selection committee. The committee is composed of distinguished individuals from the civil servant serving in public institutions. The committee shall be chaired by a senior and experienced person either from Government ministry or Institutions. The applications will be considered based on the selection criteria as outlined by committee. All awards shall remain secret and in the custodian of the selection committee.

- To promote, encourage and facilitate networking among institutions and organizations relevant to public administration and strengthen the networks of public administration and development; and
- To enhance professionalism in the public service in rewarding the successful experiences in Innovations and excellence in the public service.
